AI + Human mind + Marketing
Will AI change the way human make purchases & will it affect the way brands carry out marketing? + it's a relaunch party of this newsletter.
It’s the 50th post, thanks for sticking around for so long. It’s been more than 2 years since I started this newsletter. 🤗👏
Since then I’ve…
wrote about how I was building a SaaS startup, day-to-day struggles while building it, talking about how to raise funds, at what valuation you should actually sell it…
inviting some of my Twitter friends to share their journey as a founder…
then gradually just talk about marketing and random things.
In fact, you can see the older posts how things have changed & developed since the first post. Making this newsletter spread in different directions like a spider web 🕸️.
Though, one of the best things that happened was I started writing, which I would have never thought to do (I mean, why would somebody read it when there are already so many), and just hit the publish button then it all got exciting.
The best part is that so many people now read it, love it and share it.
But it is time to restructure and give a new direction to this newsletter. With new aims and goals. I want to make it more reader-centric rather than just publishing my random thoughts or what I’m working on.
I spend some time last week analysing my readers and actually digging into them. Creating a list of people who are reading it, reaching out to some of them to know what they like about the newsletter and trust me, how scared I felt - what if the changes I make lead to unsubscribing, but it was all worth it.
Considering what my readers like + what I can best offer → having this balance is so important. Because what if I don’t enjoy writing what my readers want to read? 🤷♀️
So, coming up with some basic topic changes I’m going to make in this newsletter. (I’m really excited because, kind of, I’ll be more focused now 😁)
Primarily will be focusing on pre-launch product marketing tactics and real-time actionable tips.
Marketing from a Founder’s perspective.
+ I’ll be adding some free resources, templates to get the work done.
AI + Human + Marketing
While I was looking for ways to revamp the newsletter, I wanted to consider the broader point of view of marketing + customers especially in relation to AI.
Why? Because AI will affect buying decisions of customers and brands will have to bypass AI to reach customers.
Though it’s true that your product doesn’t need that AI feature upgrade because, trust me, your customers don’t care about it. But the strategy needs to consider AI as a consumer too. Because what it will interpret will somehow be seen by humans.
Just look at some recent changes that happened around AI:
Snapchat and Instagram hope bots will talk to you when your friends don’t.
ChatGPT is generating wholesome spam content.
The algorithm will provide its own results, Google is already working on it with their search engine. So, creators, writers and marketers have to work harder to be even visible.
Chatbots are still a lot far away from providing near-to-answerable results to queries.
“The old web is dying, and the new web struggles to be born.” - The Verge, James Vincent
For me, I believe AI has a long way to go, maybe a few decades, to provide promising results. Till then it’s just overwhelming confidence coming from people around it.
But if something that is underdeveloped becomes a part of our lives, how healthy will it be to build a relationship with humans?
How much can a buyer rely on AI-generated answers?
How will buyers find your product behind the AI walls?
There are too many questions and as I’ve shared here on how algorithms changed our habits, AI will be doing the same.
So, you need to be ready and find ways to build a relationship with your customers. If social media is still figuring out how to survive this, you need to be clear that newsletters, or any other marketing channels, also aren’t going to be the same forever. I can hardly say what changes it will bring, but I can surely say people won’t have time to read a lot of content & I’ll, you, have to figure out how to retain readers.
But you can always think like a human & you have to make the AI successful in giving what customers are asking for - whether it is the next content or company information.
Remember, your customer is exposed to AI all the time, it’s your company’s ability to serve the true value of your product with AI’s help.
I really want to know, what do you think if humans keep seeing low-quality content generated by AI will it make content an easy way to reach customers or will it be harder?🤔👇🏻
Cheers,
Ritika
